The Father’s Mission

We’re called the Mission, not because we have a plan or a target but because God does! It is the Father’s desire to redeem creation, and through the leading of Christ and the power of the Spirit, we are involved in that.

For us that means we highly value prayer and seek the Lord’s guidance in all things. Also, we are keen to work with others: churches, mission groups, charities… wherever we see that God is moving.

Jesus is the host

So often in the bible accounts of Jesus we see him eating with folks, sharing food and bringing people together. Jesus taking the role of host displays his authority and his servant heart in equal measure.

For us this helps us see our role. Firstly, we want to introduce people to Jesus in a personal way, to let them know that he is inviting them to his table. Secondly, we want to be as welcoming as he is, to follow his lead in hospitality and generosity.

Followers of Jesus will always stand out because of their love for each other and their commitment to obey the teachings of Jesus. Doing these both together can be tricky but we’re committed to it. Just like Jesus we don’t want to exclude and throw the first stone, but we also want to lead people to repentance and changed lives.

For us this means we acknowledge there will be differences of opinion in our community. We try to speak loudly and proudly about the central heart of Christianity, but we endeavour to be sensitive and respectful about issues which are complex.

In all things we commit ourselves to obeying Christ and loving one another.
